Sea of Grass
When I stand at my kitchen window, usually washing dishes, I have a great view. It is acres of a field of grass. This time of the year it hasn't been cut yet. It's one of the last fields that the local farmer gets to, so the grass is tall and when the wind blows it's like the waves on the ocean.
That inspired me to get out the video camera and put this piece together. I grew up near the ocean and often found myself on the beach or out on Long Island Sound in a boat. The rolling waves of the Sound match the rolling of the grasses. The sea foam is the bulky seed heads at the tip of each stem. The wind does what wind does...it blows across the surface creating waves both beautiful and at times random. In its totality it reminds me of the ocean, the tides...home.
Let me know in the comments below what scenes in your life remind you of where you grew up.
Whenever I smell a Pine tree it reminds me of a place my family used to go to. A friend’s cabin on a lake in Mass. that was surrounded by Pine Trees. it didn’t have running water, you had to hand pump a water pump in the wooden kitchen sink to get water. No water, no bathroom. An outhouse and for baths you jumped in the lake at the end of the dock. Great memories! Carol
Sea of Grass was so beautiful and so well put together! Artistic! I could vision myself on a small boat being rocked by the waves!
